Recovery Mondays

Recovery Mondays

This meditation evening is for people in all forms of recovery (alcohol, food, drugs, shopping, TV, internet, gambling, depression, sex and love addiction and other compulsive addictive behaviours). The evening is led by order members, Mitras and friends.

The sessions will be an opportunity to explore Buddhist meditation as a tool to help cultivate sobriety of mind. Meditation for people with addiction issues or compulsive behaviours can help calm the mind and heal the heart. We also do a brief check in, chant together for a few moments and engage in reflective discussion.

We request that you are sober when you attend these meetings. Come and join us in person or online.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book?

No, just turn up!

Do I need to be a Buddhist?

No - we teach a mediation for those in recovery irrespective of

participants' particular beliefs.

What should I wear?

There are no special requirements, just make sure you'll be comfortable to sit for the length of the meditation.

If you are joining us online and do not have meditation equipment, a dining room chair will be perfectly suitable.

Are there any requirements for attending?

Our only requirement is that you are sober on the evening.

Is there a charge?

We don't charge a fixed cost to attend Recovery Monday but instead invite you to make a donation to the Centre to help us cover our running costs. A donation of $5 - $10 would help us to cover our costs, but everyone is equally welcome, even if you cannot give anything at all.
