five consecutive tuesdays : 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Mar 16th – Apr 13th 2010
This introductory course is suited to those with no prior experience of meditation as well as those who have had some previous instruction
Over the course of the five weeks we will learn two complimentary types of Buddhist meditation, the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana or cultivation of loving-kindness
We will cover the basics from body posture, through the traditional five hindrances and their antidotes, ways of working in meditation, right up to guidance in establishing a regular practice
Some time will be allowed for introducing the source texts of the above two methods, as well as understanding their place within a structured ‘system of meditation’
The sessions will be informal with lots of opportunity for questions and discussion over tea and cookies
