Introduction to Buddhist Ethics

five consecutive tuesdays : 7:00pm – 9:00pm
May 25th – Jun 22nd 2010

This introductory course is suited to those wishing to explore living ethically from a Buddhist perspective.

The importance of ethics in the three-fold way of ‘Ethics, Meditation and Wisdom’ is the starting point for this course.

After initially considering the criterion of ethics, we will go on to explore the five precepts common to all schools of Buddhism. Some time will be devoted to examining their canonical sources, before continuing with a detailed examination of both the negative and positive aspects of these five ‘training principles’.

The emphasis of the course will be on exploring ways of creatively embodying the precepts into our everyday lives.

The sessions will be informal with lots of opportunity for questions and discussion over tea and cookies

Suggested donation for the course is $ 55

Course instructor: Dharmachari Dayasiddhi
